Parent-Led Conferences |
Our first set of school conferences will be held on September 21 and 22, 2023. These conversations are intended to be parent-led with an opportunity to set some early learning goals and for us to understand how we can best support your child in their learning. These conferences will be in-person, at the school.
We strongly encourage parents to include their children as part of the conference. This allows students to have a voice in their learning goals and to take personal responsibility for their learning.
Online registration for meeting times can be found through your MyCBE Account. This system opens up at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 14. Once signed in, click on “MyCBE” then click on “My School Conferences”.
Volunteering at the School|
Volunteers are a valued part of our school community. We welcome volunteers to support us in the classroom, on field trips and with tasks at home or at school. To volunteer with the Calgary Board of Education, adults must have a valid police security clearance. To complete this process, please follow the steps below.
Volunteer Security Clearance Process
Step 1: Prospective volunteers must first register as a volunteer at the school office where you plan on volunteering. School administrators will verify your identity and register you in the CBE volunteer database. The school office will provide you with a letter enabling you to obtain a police information check from the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
Please note, prospective volunteers must reside in Canada for a full year before registering. Police clearances from countries other than Canada are not accepted.
Step 2: Visit the CPS online system, electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain your police check using your CBE volunteer letter.
If you are unable to complete the process online, you may visit a police information check location instead.
Step 3: Once you have received your clearance document from CPS you will need to share it with the school in-person or by email.
Cost
Your security clearance is valid for five years and the cost is $21.25 which is charged during the online ePIC application. This fee is not covered by the CBE.
Annual Volunteer Registration
Each school year you must complete the CBE volunteer registration form. By completing the form, you agree to abide by the conditions that protect the safety, confidentiality and working environment of our schools. You also make a signed declaration regarding criminal charges.
Volunteers Needed for Food Truck Event |
On September 21, from 4:00 – 7:30 PM, the School Council will be hosting a food truck event. This will happen in conjunction with our Parent-Led Conferences. More information will be coming home next week regarding this amazing community event. In the meantime, events such as this require several volunteers to help make it successful. If you can help volunteer, please email volunteer.sibyllakiddle@gmail.com.
Yearbook |
Yearbooks have arrived and have been handed out to classroom teachers to send home with students. To make a yearbook successful requires considerable time and we are grateful to our previous parent volunteers for the time they have given to make our yearbook a success.
As we look ahead to the 2023-24 yearbook, we need a couple of parent volunteers to oversee this work. Unfortunately, our staff resources are limited, and we are unable to lead the work of yearbook development. This volunteer work can be done entirely offsite and on your own schedule. As a school, we would be happy to support you. If you are interested in taking on this leadership, please contact the school. A yearbook cannot be published without your support.
Traffic Safety |
With the start of the school year and with our growing student numbers, we wanted to remind families to practice safe driving habits around the school. Various traffic violations can put our students and families at greater risk of being injured. Safe driving habits help keep our students safe while also being respectful of the residents who have nearby homes. Often there is reasonable parking within 500m of the school, with much less traffic congestion. Please adhere to parking signs, including the bus zone, when driving to school. We can all work together to take care of our community and keep it safe.
MyCBE/PowerSchool Account Set Up |
Having an active MyCBE/PowerSchool Account is critical for accessing everything from fees to report cards to booking Parent / Teacher Conferences. To access your account or to create an account please go to the Student and Parent / Legal Guardian Sign In page on the CBE website. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
Back to School Packages |
Back to school packages have been sent home with students. This package includes information about the forms that need to be filled out for this school year. Please refer to the package for the forms that you need to complete. Please note: The CBE has transitioned to using online forms for the Annual Authorization and Demographic forms. These forms need to be filled out on your MyCBE/PowerSchool Account, as they give us important contact information in case of an emergency.
Bussing |
Information regarding your child’s bus route has been directly uploaded to your MyCBE /PowerSchool Account. If you have any concerns or questions regarding registration or routes, you can go to the main transportation website or email transportation@cbe.ab.ca
