First Day of Classes
The school office is open to parents on August 26, 2026. For the first three days, the office will be open 8:00am - 1:00pm.
Kindergarten Staggered Entry – First Day Only
We will begin the school year in a ‘staggered entry’ format. Please note the date and timeslot below for your child’s first day of school.
Monday/Wednesday Class – Monday, August 31
- 8:15 – 10:00 AM: Last names A to M
- 12:45 – 2:30 PM: Last names N to Z
Tuesday/Thursday Class – Tuesday, September 1
- 8:15 – 10:00 AM: Last names A to M
- 12:45 – 2:30 PM: Last names N to Z
Regular Classes Begin:
- Mon./Wed. Class: Wednesday, September 2 – 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Tues./Thurs. Class: Thursday, September 3 – 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Every Friday dismissal is at 12:00 PM

Assigned Teachers
Teachers will be sending home a welcome email to their students no later than the end of the day on Friday, August 28, 2026. This email will let your child know who their teacher is and where to meet on the first day of school.
Staff Accessibility Over the Summer
Summer is a time for staff to connect with their own family and friends; therefore, staff will not be available through email from June 30 at 12:00 PM to August 26 at 8:00 AM. If there is an urgent matter, please contact me at mllundgren@cbe.ab.ca and I will respond when I am able to. All non-urgent matters will be addressed at the end of August.
Communication in the Fall
The school will not send communication out over the summer. The next communication you have from the school will be sent out the week of August 24.
Save the Date: Back to School Picnic
School Council is hosting a Back to School Picnic on Thursday, September 10, from 5:00 Pm – 7:00 PM. There will be food trucks, music, a photo booth, 50/50 tickets, and a scavenger hunt. The evening is designed to be a casual way to celebrate the start of school and connect with school staff and your fellow SKS families. We hope to see you there!

Yellow School Bus Transportation
Our yellow school bus routes are designed over the summer using the addresses submitted before June's pre-registration deadline. Get ready for some exciting journeys!

School Supplies
Your child needs a water bottle, lunch/snack, backpack, and clean indoor running shoes (to be left at school) each day. All items should be labeled with your child’s name. Your child also needs to wear proper clothing to be outside each day. You do not need to buy school supplies – all supplies are provided by the school through the Student Supply Fee that families pay annually.
