Sibylla Kiddle School – Who We Are

Sibylla Kiddle School is a community of reflective learners who seek to create authentic connections within our Mind, Spirit, Heart and Body.

Mind (To Know) – Our questions and curiosities inspire rigorous thinking, leading us to engage in meaningful conversations and discover new possibilities.

Spirit (To Be) – Our attitudes promote both personal and collective well-being while respecting inclusivity, diversity and the uniqueness of others.

Heart (To Belong) – Our relationships with each other and the land are foundational building blocks for developing deeper understandings about our world.

Body (To Do) – Our actions are centered on positively impacting others through acts of service, respect and kindness.

About our School Name

Sibylla Kiddle (1919-2010) was a Crescent Heights High School graduate. In 1936, she completed her teacher training and began teaching in a one-room school south of Calgary where she taught three daughters of the Cranston family. Kiddle married Lloyd Cranston in 1940.

After a break from teaching to raise her two children, Kiddle became a kindergarten teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and handicrafts that she would donate. As an active member of the Rebekah Lodge, Kiddle baked for patients at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and volunteered many hours performing eye exams for kindergarten children.

Sibylla Kiddle School will serve students in Grades K-4 when it opens and expand to Grade 5 in September 2021.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
