National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day Event|

Students and their families are invited to attend a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event hosted by the City of Calgary in partnership with the CBE and the Calgary Catholic School District. The third annual event is on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Fort Calgary (750 9 Ave SE). This year's gathering will include in-person speakers and performers, a live stream broadcast, an aerial salute ceremony, and other events.

Following the YYC, CBE & CCSD event, all are invited to join the Pokaiks – The Children Commemorative Annual Walk and Gathering 2023. The walk will begin at 11 a.m. at City Hall (15-minute walk from Fort Calgary or 2-minute drive) and continue to Shaw Millenium Park (30-minute walk). The walk will be followed by drumming/dancing, Indigenous community speakers, artisan booths, and food sales.

Parent-Led Conferences|

Thank you to our families for attending parent-led conferences. We enjoyed meeting with each of you and getting to know your children through your eyes. A big shout out to our School Council/Parent Society for the community building event on Thursday. It was great to see our families connecting with one another through the food trucks, photo booth and yard games.

Terry Fox Run|

On October 5, Sibylla Kiddle will hold our annual Terry Fox Run. We are looking for approximately six volunteers to help outside with the set up and take down of the event. If you are available to help from 12:30-2:00pm, please email aemclean@cbe.ab.ca Volunteers will need to have a valid Police Clearance and a completed Annual Volunteer Form.

In a letter to parents/guardians, Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides has announced that Alberta Education will gather information and feedback to aid in drafting the K-6 Social Studies curriculum. For more information and to provide your feedback, please refer to the school website.
