Principal's Message
Dear Sibylla Kiddle Families,
It was so much fun to see all the costumes at school today!
Thank you for getting up early to paint faces, help children into costumes, inflate those giant dinosaur outfits, and somehow still manage to get to school on time!
If your child is trick-or-treating this weekend, I hope they collect all of your favourite treats as well!
Happy Halloween!

Remembrance Day Assemblies — November 10
We will recognize Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 10, with two assemblies to accommodate our youngest students.
Families are welcome to attend.
Kindergarten and Grade 1 Assembly
Time: 9:30 AM
Doors Open: 9:15 AM
This shorter assembly is designed for our youngest students and will include:
- An explanation of why we observe Remembrance Day.
- A performance by Grade 4/5 students.
- A wreath-laying ceremony.
- Reflections shared by Grade 1 students.
- A moment of silence.
Grades 2–5 Assembly
Time: 10:30 AM
Doors Open: 10:15 AM
This assembly will include all elements of the earlier ceremony, along with a special guest presentation.
We are pleased to welcome veteran John MacCormack to our school for this important occasion.
Students who participate in Girl Guides or Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms on this day.
Poppy Donations — November 10
Thanks to our local Legion, every student will receive a poppy before the Remembrance Day assemblies.
We encourage students to bring a monetary donation for their poppy on Tuesday, November 10.
Leadership Club students will visit classrooms to collect donations.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Family Donation | Supporting Regulation and Belonging
One of our Sibylla Kiddle School families has made a generous donation to our school.
To ensure the funds have the greatest possible impact for the greatest number of students, we invited staff members to reflect on areas of growth and opportunity within our school.
After careful consideration, we have decided to invest in two key areas: regulation and belonging.
Supporting Student Regulation
We will purchase four new regulation bikes for the school, giving students opportunities to use these resources outside their classroom spaces.
Building Belonging Through Art
Our second initiative is a school-wide artist residency through Passion for Glass.
All students and staff will create an individual glass piece that will come together as a collaborative legacy project.
The project will focus on the theme of belonging and will remain at our school for years to come.
We are incredibly grateful to this family for their generosity and commitment to supporting our students.
Safety Reminder | No Drop-Offs in the Staff Parking Lot
The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
We have noticed an increase in parent vehicles using the staff parking lot during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times, particularly among families using the 1st Class doors.
Please remember:
- The staff parking lot is strictly reserved for staff members at all times.
- Parents and guardians must not use the staff parking lot for student drop-off or pick-up.
- Families are asked to park legally on adjacent streets and walk their children the remaining distance to school.
Please prioritize safety over convenience.
Thank you for helping keep our school community safe!
School Council Fundraisers | Growing Smiles and Purdy's
Did you know that school funding primarily covers staffing and some basic supplies, such as photocopying paper?
Many of the additional learning opportunities and resources available to students are funded through School Council and the Parent Fundraising Society.
This month alone, Council has supported:
- Transportation for field trips.
- The Sound Kreations residency.
- Classroom enrichment supplies, including sit spot mats and art materials.
- Gym equipment.
Families can support these initiatives through two current fundraising campaigns:
- Growing Smiles
- Purdy's Chocolate

Babysitting will be provided by Sibylla Kiddle School Grade 5 students.
For the first meeting, students will be babysitters-in-training, with adults nearby to provide support as needed.
By the December meeting, we will have a new group of certified babysitters, as 34 Grade 5 students have registered for the babysitting course offered at our school.
Please note: Babysitting services are available for children ages 3 and older.
We hope this opportunity makes it easier for families to participate in School Council meetings.
