Principal’s Message

“Compassion opens limitless doors to human connection.”

~Steve Gilliland

May 6-12 is Mental Health Week in Canada. This year's theme is “A Call to be Kind. Because compassion connects us all.” Compassion is the understanding and empathy we show towards ourselves and others, especially during times of struggle. By cultivating a compassionate mindset, we not only become more resilient in facing life's challenges but also create a more inclusive and understanding environment for those around us.

Through the work of our school development plan, our school has continually worked toward creating a safe, caring, welcoming and kind environment where all students feel like they belong. An important part of that work is compassion. Each day, I am encouraged by the compassion and kindness exhibited by our students as they support and help one another. Recently, we have formed a new connection with the grade 9 leadership students at Dr. George Stanely School. Once a week, a group of students joins the grade 1 students and Mrs. McLean PE class at Sibylla Kiddle. Watching the interactions between some of our youngest learners and the grade 9 students, it is evident how small acts of kindness and compassionate help to form strong and meaningful connections for students and allows for a community of belonging. We want to continue to encourage these acts of kindness and compassion within our community, to further build a space where all feel welcome.

I encourage you to join us in this journey by incorporating acts of compassion into your daily lives at home. Whether it is lending a listening ear to a friend in need, or helping a neighbour, every act of compassion, no matter how small, makes a difference.

Teacher Appreciation Week

As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to express gratitude for the incredible educators at Sibylla Kiddle who play such a vital role in our children's lives. These dedicated professionals go above and beyond every day to inspire, educate, and nurture our students.

Their impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the minds and hearts of our future leaders. They devote countless hours to lesson planning, mentoring, and supporting our student's growth, development and well-being.

This week, it's an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and appreciation for all that they do. Whether it's a heartfelt note, or a simple thank you, let's make sure our teachers know just how much they are valued and appreciated.

Thank you to all the teachers who make a difference in our children's lives. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.
