Principal’s Message

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” - AESOP

As we head into the week ahead, let's nurture not only our minds but also our spirits, fostering an environment where kindness, curiosity, and creativity bloom.

You never know what someone is dealing with behind the ‘Instagram’ face we see each day. We have the chance to choose kindness and give grace to others and ourselves. Kindness is contagious, and it has the power to create a ripple effect that extends far beyond our immediate circles. It can brighten someone's day, mend broken hearts, and build bridges between people from all walks of life. So, as we go about our days, let's make a conscious effort to prioritize kindness in all that we do. Let's teach our children that small acts of kindness can make a big difference and that they have the power to be a force for good in the world.

Let's continue to create a culture of kindness that uplifts and inspires those around us. Because in the end, kindness isn't just a nicety—it's a necessity. And in a world that can often feel overwhelming, it is the kindness of others that reminds us that we are never alone.

Staffing Update

Please see below for a staffing update and message from Ms. Fraser.

To our students: I want you all to know how much I love this school. I love every fresh new morning, every smile, every joke, and every celebration of your learning. Your big, beautiful hearts and brains inspire me each day. I learn so much from each and every one of you – including what makes a good friend, the many beautiful ways that we connect with one another, and the kind of world I want to live in. I am so very thankful for all the learning I’ve done at Sibylla Kiddle School. At the end of June, it will be time for me to go on a new adventure; I will not be at our school next year. I look forward to hearing about what you get up to and celebrating you from afar, because, as you know, I love collecting good stories from the people I care about! Please keep being amazing, keep being creative, and above all else, keep caring for one another.

To our families: It is with a heart full of emotions that I want to share the news that I will be moving on from our amazing school at the end of this school year. This decision has not been an easy one; serving as your assistant principal for the past two years has been an incredible journey filled with warmth, personal and professional growth, and many cherished memories. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this vibrant community of learners, where I have seen first-hand the remarkable achievements and boundless potential of our students. I will deeply miss our interactions and the relationships we've formed. Know that I leave with a heart full of gratitude and appreciation for each one of you. Thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of being a part of your children's lives.

In the coming weeks, Mrs. Patten will be working to select a new assistant principal for our school. Please know the three of us will work together before the end of June to support a successful transition into the fall.

Outdoor Play

Outdoor play and games at recess are an important part of our day at school. They provide ways for students to be active, cooperate with peers and engage in social activities. We are lucky to have several games painted on our compound for students to use during recess and outdoor play. As we enter back into the spring and summer season, compound games and ball games become popular again.

We want to remind families of the expectations around wall ball. We enjoy seeing students coming together to play this game, and we are working to ensure that wall ball can remain an enjoyable and safe activity for all students. We are asking that students leave their own wall balls at home (the moon balls), just as we ask students to keep other toys at home. By doing so, we can avoid lost, misplaced or broken balls. We will still have school wall balls that students will be able to use to play wall ball during recess times.

We are also asking that students do not play wall ball before school or immediately after school. The gym wall is a great place to play, however many families are walking to and from the doors to drop off and collect their children. To keep others safe, we ask that wall ball is not played during those times.
