            Halloween at Sibylla Kiddle
Halloween will be a special learning day at Sibylla Kiddle School. Classes will not be having parties but may engage in Halloween or Autumn-themed learning activities. We know that this is a big day for children, and we also recognize that not all families celebrate Halloween. As an inclusive environment we want to make sure all students feel comfortable and safe at school. We know that many of our families look forward to Halloween each year and welcome the opportunity to capitalize on our students’ excitement to enhance their learning.
Please have your child bring a healthy snack for themselves. Do not send a treat for the whole class as we will not have class parties and cannot accommodate class food due to allergies.
We know that some families will want their children to wear costumes to school and some may want to save them for community events after school hours. On October 31, we welcome students to wear their costumes or pajamas to school if they wish.
When choosing a costume to wear to school please remember:
- Keep your child’s comfort and safety in mind for indoor and outdoor play. Make sure your child can wear a coat and indoor and outdoor shoes with their costume.
 - Long capes, uncomfortable shoes, or other tripping hazards are discouraged. Students should be able to participate in gym and outdoor play safely throughout the day.
 - Please ensure their vision is not obscured by their costume. For this reason, masks may not be worn.
 - Please leave loose props at home. We cannot be responsible for anything lost or left behind at the school before Halloween night and there will be no staff here to accommodate entrance to the school for any forgotten items.
 - Do not send costume weapons to school (swords, guns, etc.)
 - No extremely gory costumes. Please remember we have small children in the building, students, and staff with varying levels of sensitivity. We want everyone to feel safe and have fun!

School Fees|
School Fees and lunchroom fees have now been added to your MyCBE accounts. Families are reminded to log into their accounts to access and pay these fees.
No child is ever denied access to an education in the CBE because of an inability to pay fees. Fee waiver applications can be filled out through your MyCBE Account.
Traffic Safety Reminder
With more adverse weather approaching, we would like to remind families of the importance of traffic safety around the school. Following traffic rules and being observant of pedestrians keeps our community safe.
Safe driving practices go hand-in-hand with safe pedestrian practices. We kindly ask families to take the extra time to cross the road in the designated crosswalks and to take the time to drive around the block, rather than making U-turns in unsafe and illegal locations.
A huge thank-you to all our families who are taking the extra time to model and practice safe driving and pedestrian habits for our students.
Lost and Not Yet Found
We have two overflowing cabinets of “lost and not yet found” items. Lost items are sorted and displayed. If your child is missing something (notably coats/hoodies), please encourage them to pick them up this week or stop by the school to look for missing items. Before or after school is a good time for parents to have a look through the “lost and not yet found” items.
As a reminder, please label your child(ren)s clothing. When it has a name, we can get it back to its owner. Unclaimed clothing will be packed and donated at different points in the year.
School Council/Parent Society Notes|
The remainder of the Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch/Snack Days are now available to purchase online. Please ensure that you order your lunches prior to the cut-off deadline (5 days prior).
