Principal Update
Sibylla Kiddle School Families,
Skill testing question – When you visited our school for the open house, what shape did you see throughout our hallways? If you recall, there were circles everywhere. You may have ‘closed the loop’ on your thinking and correctly identified circles as a theme in our school this year. We have been anchoring some of our initial classroom conversations, learning and activities around the ideas presented in the book, “The Circles All Around Us” written by Brad Montague. I’ve provided a YouTube link if you are interested in seeing the book and hearing the story read aloud.
If you read the story, you will discover themes such as building character, inclusivity, building friendships and having an impact on our community. One of the core themes is also about each of our individual abilities to make a difference in our world. In a recent Welcome Back Assembly, I talked to students about how little things can make big differences in our school. Simple acts like smiling and saying hello show kindness.
Listening to our teacher shows we are ready to learn. Washing our hands in the bathroom helps to keep ourselves and others healthy. Keeping our hands to ourselves allows others to feel safe. It is the little things that can make big differences.
As a family, I encourage you to read (watch) the book together. What themes do you see? What small but important choices can your family and your child make, that will result in positive differences in our community, city and our world?

Online Demographic Forms
Thank you to all of our families who have logged into their MyCBE Account to update your child’s demographic forms for the 2025-2026 school year. Reviewing and completing your demographic forms ensures your child is properly registered for this school year and gives us the most up to date information possible, should we need to contact you. The preferred deadline for the completion of these forms has now passed. If you have not yet done this verification, we would appreciate taking them time to complete them as soon as possible.
Dogs on School Property
We have seen lots of your furry friends on our school grounds this week. While you love your dog and we love your dog, they should not be on school grounds according to City of Calgary Bylaws. If you have a concern in this area, please contact 311. It is acceptable to have a leashed dog on the city sidewalks around the school and the upper part of the fields to the north and west of the school.
Student Health Plans
Student Health Plan – A reminder that this form must be completed If medication is to be taken at school or if your child has a condition which may impact their attendance at school. This form must be updated on an annual basis. Please note, the school is able to oversee a student taking their medication but we are unable to directly administer the medication ourselves.
Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form – This form is only required if your child has a known and significant condition which may require the school to provide immediate emergency intervention. This form must also be updated on an annual basis.
Please note, for most of our students, these forms are not required. These forms are only applicable to students who meet the criteria noted above. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our school office.
Electric Scooters / Scooters / Bicycles
Before and after school can be very congested with foot traffic in and around our school. We kindly ask that students and families walk their scooters and bicycles when on school property or adjacent sidewalks. We have witnessed some close calls and even some collisions this past week. This is especially true for students riding on electric scooters as they are capable of speeds which are unsafe for the crowded areas.
As a school we have coined the phrase, ‘Walk Our Wheels’. This means we are requesting that all equipment with wheels is to be walked while on school property or directly adjacent sidewalks. Thank you for your support.
Parent / Visitor Building Access
We have been noticing an increase in the number of parents coming into the school in the morning with their child. Our building is to be a secure campus meaning all parents and visitors must check-in at the main office before accessing the school building. If your child requires extra support entering the building in the morning, please work with your child’s teacher to develop an appropriate plan.
