Principal’s Message
“An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.”
(Henry David Thomas)
Why Walk? Walking is one of the BEST things you can do for your overall health. You can walk your way to better sleep, strength, mood, and more. One of my own family's favourite ways to reconnect, recharge and reflect is to go for a walk. Whether that be a quick walk around our neighbourhood, a stroll along the Bow in Riverstone or a trek in the mountains taking in the fresh air, the common theme is feeling better and ready to take on the day.
This coming week is Walk to School Week, which includes International Walk to School Day on October 9. Spending a few minutes each morning, walking (or riding and wheeling) to school is an awesome way set up the day in a positive way. Even if the distance to school is too far to walk, parking a few blocks away and walking the last little bit allows for some movement before starting the school day. By more families walking, we also reduce the traffic congestion around the school which provides a safer journey to school for all.
Next week, let’s see how many students we can get walking to school. We love to see walking, wheeling, or riding, especially on Wednesday, October 9 - International Walk to School Day.

Principal Note
Mrs. Patten will be taking some personal days for family commitments from October 9 until October 17. In her absence, Mrs. Edie Reichardt will be returning to Sibylla Kiddle to work with Mrs. Horne to support our students and families.
Lost and Not Yet Found
Although we are only a month into school, we already have two full cabinets of “lost and not yet found” items. Lost items are sorted and displayed. If your child is missing something (notably coats/hoodies), please encourage them to pick them up or stop by the school to look for missing items. Before or after school is a good time for parents to have a look through the “lost and not yet found” items.
As a reminder, please label your child(ren)s clothing. When it has a name, we can get it back to its owner. Unclaimed clothing will be packed and donated at regular intervals.
Picture Day
Picture Day is coming! School Picture Day will take place on October 15 and October 16.
On October 15, Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten classes and grades 1-3 classes will have their individual and class photos taken.
On October 16, Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten classes and grades 4-5 classes will have their individual and class photos taken. Any students (Grade 1-5) that missed photos the previous day, will be photographed on October 16.
Terry Fox Thank You
