Principal’s Message
“A single leaf working alone provides no shade.”
-Chuck Page
This week, I witnessed the power of teamwork while observing students outside in the snow. Grade 3 students supported one another while on a community walk, helping each other with their visual journals as they sketched nature. While taking part in their weekly wander, grade 1 students worked together to collect pinecones.
In schools, we see many examples of teamwork— students working together to solve problems, teachers planning collaboratively with one another, or staff engaging with small groups of students. These collective efforts allow us to learn from one another, gain new insights, and approach challenges in different ways. Effective teamwork provides an opportunity to share perspectives and tackle problems in new ways.
One of the most valuable forms of teamwork at Sibylla Kiddle is the partnership between home and school. When families and staff work together to build strong relationships, it creates the foundation for student success. School conferences are one of the many ways we collaborate to support students' growth. Next week, we look forward to welcoming families to discuss their child(ren)’s learning and work together to identify their next steps.
Thank you for continuing to work alongside us to create a thriving learning community. Together we are a tree.

Winter Festival
On the evening of Thursday, December 5 from 6:00-7:30pm we would like to welcome families to our first annual Winter Festival, The SKS Frostival. This will be an open house style event with various activities happening throughout the school for families to take part in together. Come and join us for crafts, caroling, puzzles and more! Please note that the Winter Festival will take place of the Winter or Spring Concert.
In addition to the festival, school council will be holding a craft market and kid craft stall in the gym. A variety of vendors will be available with items for sale. This is a great opportunity to grab some early holiday gifts.
We look forward to having you join us for this fun event on December 5.
School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan
Each year schools create a School Development Plan (SDP) that reflects and aligns with the CBE Three-Year Education Plan as well as school specific priorities. Schools also report on these results in the School Improvement Results Report each year.
Our School Development Plan for the 2024-2025 school year has now been posted to the Sibylla Kiddle website.
Staffing Updates
We would like to welcome some staff to our school. Ms. Chassidy Gish will be joining our teaching staff working alongside the Grade 4 and 5 teams. Additionally, we would like to welcome Ms. Sakura Toi to our lunch supervisor team.
Winter Traffic Safety
With more adverse weather upon us, we would like to remind families of the importance of traffic safety around the school. Please plan for extra travel and parking time with the snow to allow for students arriving to school on time.
Safe driving practices go together with safe pedestrian practices. We kindly ask families to take the extra time to cross the road in the designated crosswalks and to take the time to drive around the block, rather than making U-turns in unsafe and illegal locations.
As a reminder, please do not park in the bus zone or the staff parking lot when dropping off students. A huge thank-you to all our families who continue to model and practice safe driving and pedestrian habits for our students.
Lost and Not Yet Found
We have two overflowing cabinets of “lost and not yet found” items. Lost items are sorted and displayed. If your child is missing something (notably coats/hoodies), please encourage them to pick them up this week or stop by the school to look for missing items. Before or after school is a good time for parents to have a look through the “lost and not yet found” items.
As a reminder, please label your child(ren)s clothing. When it has a name, we can get it back to its owner. Unclaimed clothing will be packed and donated after conferences.
