Principal Update
Sibylla Kiddle School Families,
Imagine you are aware of a conversation that is going to happen between two individuals. You will be the topic of discussion but you will not be present for the meeting. If you are like me, your suspicions will awaken, a sense of injustice will likely arise and an urgency to know what is being discussed will be triggered. This is a natural human reaction. Note, it is a human reaction, not solely an adult reaction. Our children have the same feelings.
This upcoming week our school is hosting Parent / Teacher Conferences. I’ve always struggled with this title as I believe having the student at the conference is critical. We are discussing their learning, celebrating their success and developing plans for their continued progress. When they are not part of the conversation, worry sets in. An assumption occurs that they have done something wrong. When they are present, they have voice. They can take ownership for their actions and their next steps. They develop the confidence to advocate for themselves. It is their learning. Let’s include them at the table of conversation, regardless of age.
We recognize that sometimes a private conversation needs to occur between you and your child’s teacher. In the rare circumstances where the topic is highly sensitive, teachers are always open to having these discussions. However, for our conferences, I invite you to bring your child, let their perspectives and insights both delight and surprise you.
Brad Emery
Principal
School Conferences
School Conferences will be on November 27 & 28, 2025. These conversations allow us to give you an update on your child’s learning and to discuss next steps. These conferences will be in-person, at the school.
Online registration for meeting times can be found through your MyCBE Account. This system will remain open until November 27 @ 12:00 PM. Once signed in, click on “MyCBE” then click on “My School Conferences”.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming during the week of December 1. More information is to come. In the meantime, we are looking for some parent volunteers to help out on those days. If you are able to support this event, please email our Library Assistant, Mrs.
Williams, with your availability. Thank you.
Fundraising Society – Casino Volunteers Required
The Sibylla Kiddle Fundraising Society still needs volunteers! On December 1st & 2nd, the society will be involved with running a casino. These opportunities often generate between
$60,000 - $80,000 for schools. There are still a few spots to be filled and we really need people to sign up for ‘backup’ positions, in case of an unexpected emergency by scheduled volunteer. To sign up for a volunteer position, please visit SKS 2025 Casino Signup Genius. Thank you for your support.
