Principal Update
Sibylla Kiddle School Families,
As I write this week’s update, I hear the words, ‘Say, Cheese’ being heralded down the hall. It’s picture day! The students are looking their best and smiles are beaming from ear to ear.
From a learning perspective, I love pictures. They tell stories. They inspire creativity. They prompt questions. Photography can be a fun and really easy activity to try at home. It is a simple way to engage your child in learning, and they won’t even know it.
It’s time to put a camera in your child’s hand and start your adventure. They may want to create their own alphabet book or maybe one for a younger sibling or cousin. Possibly, they will want to create a photobook called ‘My Favourite Things’. Other students may want to write a story and then use photos to illustrate it. Shapes, people, nature, close-ups and panoramas; the possibilities are endless. Simply pass over the shutter, let them explore and get ready to say, ‘cheese’.

Principal
School Council / Fundraising Society AGM
Our Annual General Meeting for both the School Council and the Fundraising Society will take place at the school on Wednesday, November 19, starting at 6:30 PM. These meetings are held annually to review the year and to elect individuals into various executive positions on both the School Council and the Fundraising Society. For more information as to available roles and the agendas for these meetings, please refer to the School Council and Parent Society pages of our school website.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on November 27 & 28, 2025. These conversations allow us to give you an update on your child’s learning and to discuss next steps. These conferences will be in-person, at the school.
We strongly encourage parents to include their children as part of the conversation. This allows students to have a voice in their learning goals and to take personal responsibility for their learning.
Online registration for meeting times can be found through your MyCBE Account. This system opens up at 9:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Once signed in, click on “MyCBE” then click on “My School Conferences”.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming during the week of December 1. More information is to come. In the meantime, we are looking for some parent volunteers to help out on those days. If you are able to support this event, please email our Library Assistant, Mrs.
Williams, with your availability. Thank you.
Concert / Assembly Plan
With the extended school closure in October, we have had to adjust our plans for concerts and assemblies this school year. With the short turnaround time and in accordance with guidance from the CBE, we will be keeping our focus on teaching and learning rather than scheduling performances, field trips and other extra-curricular activities. Therefore, we will not be doing any concerts or assemblies prior to the Winter Break.
At the same time, we want to recognize that performing is a valuable learning opportunity for students. We also know how much these events mean to our community and we remain committed to ensuring opportunities will exist in the latter half of this school year. Our plan is to have a Spring Concert, involving our Kindergarten – Grade 2 students, sometime after Spring Break. The remaining grades will have the opportunity to showcase their learning through various assemblies scattered throughout the remainder of the school year. As dates are confirmed, we will communicate them to families. Thank you for your support.
Fundraising Society – Casino Volunteers Required
The Sibylla Kiddle Fundraising Society needs volunteers! On December 1 & 2, the parent society will be involved with running a casino. These opportunities often generate between
$60,000 - $80,000 for schools. To sign up for a volunteer position please visit SKS 2025 Casino Signup Genius.
Thank you for your support.
