Principal Update
Sibylla Kiddle School Families,
There is a home just down the street from where I live that is rather garish in its holiday pizzazz. Lights that move and change colour cover every square inch of the home. The lawn is packed with twinkly ornaments and a large inflatable makes accessing the front door almost impossible. For my home decorating style, this home is a lot, but in fairness, it makes me smile every time I see it.
I do love all the lights this time of year. It may be dark most of the day but the lights brighten everything up. Metaphorically, lights represent so much more than a decoration. Depending on how you view them, they represent everything from hope, to security, to clarity, to joy.
Light often represents all the good that is in our world.
My hope for all of our families this season is that your world would be filled with light; over-the-top brilliant light that not only reminds you of what you are thankful for but also shines from you, making others smile. Take time to go for a walk on your street, use lights as your metaphor to spark conversations of gratitude with your children.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on January 5, rested, recharged and ready for a new season of learning.
In the tradition of my family, I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. Whatever traditions your family may celebrate this Winter Break, may it be filled with light.
