Principal’s Message
“Approach the New Year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day.”
Michael Josephson
As we step into the New Year, it brings with it a sense of renewal and endless possibilities. It's a time to reflect on the growth and achievements of the past year and to embrace the fresh opportunities that lie ahead.
We look forward to fostering even more growth and development in our students, both academically and personally. We are excited about the potential for new learning experiences and the exploration of different passions. There is lots of new and exciting things to come.
The New Year is also a wonderful reminder that we can set new goals, push past challenges, and seize the opportunities that come our way. Together, let's encourage our children to dream big, take risks, and stay motivated as they embark on a year filled with promise.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Here's to a year of exciting opportunities, growth, and success!

Away for the Day Cell Phone Policy
At beginning of the school year, communication was sent to parents regarding the Alberta Government Ministerial Order regarding personal mobile devices. In this order, CBE students are not permitted to use personal mobile devices during instructional time. Personal Mobile devices refer to the ability for a device to connect with a network via WI-FI or through the use of a cellular data plan. This would include cell phones, tablets, smart watches and Bluetooth devices such as speakers etc. Unfortunately, even if these devices are in “school-mode”, they cannot be used or worn.
After the Christmas break, many of our students arrived back to school with new watches/devices. Sibylla Kiddle School continues to have ‘away-for-the-day’ guidelines. Students are not permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Mobile devices must be kept in their backpacks for the entirety of the school day and turned off. If you need to get a message to your child during the day, please call the office and one of our staff members will be sure to inform your child.
Parking Reminders
As a reminder, the parking lot and the bus zone are not to be used as parking areas for pick up and drop off of students. Please find alternative parking during these times. Parking a few blocks away from school and walking the remainder of the way is a great way to get some fresh air and avoid the congestion around the school.
Report Cards
Families will be able to view online student report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 12 on Jan. 27, 2025. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed.
Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.
As a note, Kindergarten teachers will report progress to parents/legal guardians via January and June report cards. In January, progress in ELAL (English Language Arts and Literature) and Math will be communicated to parents/legal guardians on the report card. In June, progress in all discipline areas will be communicated to parents/legal guardians on the report card.
Kindergarten Registration 2025-26
Registering your child for school is an exciting milestone for many families! Starting Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, Kindergarten registration will be open for the 2025-26 school year. For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025. Registrations also open on this date for new Grade 1-5 registrations.
For more information, please visit the CBE Registration Page or the school website. When registering your child for school, there are several things you should consider. Our Kindergarten Registration Guide can help answer many of your questions.
School Council/Parent Society Notes
The next School Council/Parent Society Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 22 beginning at 6:30pm in our Learning Commons. This meeting is the AGM of both the School Council and the Parents Society. If you would like to hear more about both groups, please see the school website.
