Principal’s Message
“We can only appreciate the sunrise when we have come through the darkness.”
This week when we walked out front for supervision, we noticed the sky getting lighter and lighter each morning. As the students arrived, we have been greeted with the first glimmer of sunrise that we haven’t seen for a long time. Beautiful deep pink began to highlight the silhouette of the clouds and spread across the sky like a warm hug embracing all the other dark clouds. It was a renewal and a sign of things to come as our days get longer and we can see the beginnings of spring and brighter days ahead. I reflected on this beautiful morning glow up and it created a sense of excitement of things to come.
Like the glimmers, these moments can help us define our day. The pink in the sky can be a memory to come back to, an interruption in the start of the day and an opportunity for a discussion to draw other’s attention to. I am always struck by the beautiful skies we have here, and I wonder who else noticed, did they see the same colours, were they able to appreciate it or take a moment to be inspired by it? We hope you too will have the opportunity to notice and to enjoy, maybe it can even set your day on a new course. Moving from the darkness of winter to the glimmers of spring can make a difference for us all.
Wishing you a weekend filled with sunrise happiness,
Lisa and Denise
Jump Rope for Heart
During the first few weeks of February students will be taking part in Jump Rope for Heart in Physical Education. Students will learn skipping skills as part of the PE program and have the opportunity to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please see the link: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/81305 for how your family can sign up to support this fundraising initiative.
Traffic Safety Reminders
With the freeze and thaw conditions, we are reminding families of the importance of practicing safe driving habits around the school. Various traffic violations continue to happen that can put our students and families at greater risk of being injured. Safe driving habits help keep our students safe while also being respectful of the residents who have nearby homes. Often there is reasonable parking within 500m of the school, with much less traffic congestion. Please adhere to parking signs, including the bus zone, when driving to school. Do not park in crosswalks, on the corners of the school zone or in the school parking lot. Additionally, we are reminding parents that U-turns are unsafe and illegal in front of the school. Please take the time to go around the block. We can all work together to take care of our community and keep it safe.
Registration for the 2025/2026 School Year
All students currently in Kindergarten to Grade 5 will automatically be transferred to the next school grade for the 2025/2026 school year. Registration for Kindergarten students and new students is ongoing through MyCBE.
PLEASE NOTE: if you have moved out of, or will be moving out of, Cranston for the 2025-2026 school year please let the school office know at sibyllakiddle@cbe.ab.ca and we will inform you of the next steps.
School Fees
Please log into your MyCBE/PowerSchool account and click on the icon “School Fees & Forms” to see if you have any outstanding fees. Field Trip Fees are added throughout the year.
