Principal’s Message
“How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.”
~Morgan Freeman
This coming week we will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week, a time to inspire and encourage kindness in all forms. As a school, we believe that small acts of kindness can create ripples that spread positivity throughout our community. We want to highlight four key themes for making kindness the norm.
- Inspire: Each day, we encourage our students to think about how kindness can inspire those around them. Whether it's a simple smile or a thoughtful word, acts of kindness can ignite change and inspire others to follow suit.
 - Empower: We believe that when students feel empowered, they are more likely to make a difference. By teaching them the value of kindness, we help them realize their ability to have a positive impact on others, both within and outside of the school community.
 - Enact: Kindness is not just a thought; it’s something that needs to be put into action. We encourage our students to take steps to actively enact kindness. From helping a peer to volunteering, every action counts.
 - Share: Finally, kindness is most powerful when it’s shared. We encourage families to share their acts of kindness with each other and the community. Whether it's at home, in the neighborhood, or at school, kindness creates connections and brings us closer together.

We hope this week will serve as a reminder to our students—and to all of us—that kindness can change the world, one small act at a time. We challenge each of you...how will you and your family make kindness the norm?

Valentine’s Day
Celebrating the theme of friendship and kindness through the sharing of Valentine's cards at school is an important tradition for some families. Teachers will communicate with families about the way that they will acknowledge this day within their individual classrooms. Please note, families are asked not to send in food for sharing on this day.
Yearbook
Please see the subscribed message that was sent out with more information about our 2024-2025 yearbook. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the yearbook, please contact the school at sibyllakiddle@cbe.ab.ca.
Jump Rope for Heart
This week, we kicked off Jump Rope for Heart! This event teaches our students the importance of giving back and encourages them to learn EASY healthy habits so that they understand the importance of staying active, eating well and taking care of their heart and brain health. The campaign will aim to create an inclusive and positive environment where students of all ages and abilities feel welcomed and excited to get their bodies moving and hearts pumping in support of a great cause.
The funds our school raises will help support important heart and brain research funded by Heart & Stroke. This will all be done through the website listed below. Last year, we raised over $4,000 and were one of the top fundraising schools in Canada. We also get 8% given back to the school.
Let's work together as a school community to raise funds for this cause. Register online today https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/81305
