Week Ahead

Dear Sibylla Kiddle families,

The first week of school is in the books, and it was a great one! The first week is all about building relationships and establishing structure and routines.  Our teachers put a lot of thought into planning this week, and it showed in how smoothly the week went: students were engaged in their learning tasks and felt comfortable in their classrooms.  Our support staff were organized and flexible and here to help meet the needs of students.  Thank you, parents, for getting your children to school on time with their indoor shoes and lunches! We look forward to the rest of the 2026-2027 school year!

Please note that students with annual external clearance may have their picture (including their face), their work, and their first name posted on our Instagram.  Please see the annual authorization forms on MyCBE/SchoolEngage  if you have any questions about clearance.  We encourage families to follow our school’s Instagram to see teaching and learning in action!

Please Complete Online Forms

This week, all families received a message from the CBE about completing important, annual forms.  You will find all required forms on MyCBE/SchoolEngage

School Council & Fundraising Society Meeting & Vacancies

Did you know that all parents of SKS students are automatically part of the School Council?  We invite all parents to come to monthly Council and Fundraising meetings to hear about school initiatives and to have a voice in decision making.  Your attendance makes a difference!  Our Council has an Instagram account @sks.councilandfundraising where they post key school events and volunteer opportunities – it is worth a follow!

Council is also looking to fill two roles on the executive this year:  secretary and key communicator.  Both roles require little time commitment and are a great way to get involved! If you are interested, or want to learn more, please reach out to Karen, our Council Chair, at SibyllaKiddleCouncil@gmail.com

Student Code of Conduct & Progressive Discipline

All CBE schools follow the same Administrative Regulations (ARs), including AR 6005 (Student Code of Conduct), AR 6006 (Progressive Student Discipline), and AR 6031 (Safe and Caring Schools).  Families are encouraged to review these three key ARs each year. All ARs can be found here

Correction:  Kindergarten Conferences

In the last update, it stated that there was no school for kindergarten on Thursday, September 24.  This was an error.  There is regular school for kindergarten on that day.  I apologize for the confusion.

Healthy Hunger

Thanks to three parents – Amanda, Kirstin, and Shayla – our school is once again set up for Healthy Hunger lunches and snacks.  You can sign your child up and see the food schedule on the Healthy Hunger website here

Birthday Treats

We would like to remind parents that we will not distribute any birthday food treats at school.  Schools must adhere to nutritional standards and safe food handling practices and food will not be shared. If you would like to bring in non-edible treats to celebrate your child’s birthday (stickers, pencils, etc.), you are welcome to.

Reminder: Back-to-School Picnic Next Week!

School Council is hosting a Back-to-School Picnic on Thursday, September 10, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. There will be food trucks, music, a photo booth, 50/50 tickets, and a scavenger hunt. The evening is designed to be a casual way to celebrate the start of school and connect with school staff and your fellow SKS families.  We hope to see you there!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to share,

Meagan Lundgren
