Principal’s Message
“The winter solstice is a time of endings and beginnings, a powerful time to pause and reflect.”
– Sarah Ban Breathnach
As we approach the Winter Solstice on Saturday, December 21, we find ourselves at a crossroads—where the year draws to a close, and a new chapter begins. It’s a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve taken, celebrate what we’ve accomplished, and look forward with hope and intention to the path ahead.
Reflecting on our first months of the school year, I am filled with gratitude for the many milestones we’ve reached as a school community. This year, we’ve welcomed families into our school for conferences, watched celebrations of learning and held our first Winter Frostival. Our teachers have worked collaboratively to deepen their understanding of the Science of Reading, assessment, and sharing circles, strengthening the educational experiences we offer. The School Council and Fundraising Society have organized successful community events, including our fun-filled Halloween Dance. Above all, we are constantly inspired by our students, who have embraced both the challenges and joys of learning, building confidence and spreading kindness every day.
As we step into 2025, we look forward to continuing our journey of building a collaborative learning community. There will be many more opportunities to share in the joy of learning and celebrate our collective growth. As Elder Saa’kokoto shares, "The Winter Solstice is a time for celebration, a time for reflection. A chance to think about how our life was this past year and think about those challenges and all the good things we got to experience”.
In this season of endings and beginnings, we invite each of you to reflect on the past year—the lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the successes celebrated. How can we carry these lessons forward and move into the New Year with a renewed sense of purpose and joy?
Wishing you all reflection and renewal as we embrace the light that is returning.
