Dear Sibylla Kiddle families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!  We hope you have had a wonderful summer with your children and are now getting ready for the school year to begin. Staff have been busy this week getting the school and classrooms organized to welcome students on Monday.  We have many wonderful things planned for this year and can’t wait to get started! 

Classroom Teachers

Today at 2:00 PM, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher, indicating which class they are in and more information about where to meet the first day.  If you have not received an email by the end of the day, please call or message the main office. 

First Day of School:  Monday, August 31                     

On the first day of school, all staff will be outside in the field with signs starting at 7:45 AM.  Students can find their teacher and stay with them until the doors open at 8:00 AM.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry – First Day Only

We will begin the school year in a ‘staggered entry’ format. Please note the date and timeslot below for your child’s first day of school.  Kindergarten teachers will be outside in the field with signs ready to greet students. 

Monday/Wednesday Class – Monday, August 31

  • 8:15 – 10:00 AM: Last names A to M
  • 12:45 – 2:30 PM: Last names N to Z

Tuesday/Thursday Class – Tuesday, September 1

  • 8:15 – 10:00 AM: Last names A to M
  • 2:45 – 2:30 PM: Last names N to Z

Regular Classes Begin:

  • Mon./Wed. Class: Wednesday, September 2 – 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Tues./Thurs. Class: Thursday, September 3 – 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Every Friday dismissal is at 12:00 PM

School Hours

  • Monday – Thursday 
    • 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Doors open at 7:50 AM)
      • Lunch: 11:45 AM – 12:23 PM (Grades 1-5) &
      • 11:00 AM – 11:38 AM (Kindergarten)
  • Friday
    • 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Doors open at 7:50 AM)

Important Morning Changes: Supervision and Doors

This year, there will not be morning supervision, so please plan to arrive between 7:50 and 8:00 AM. If you arrive before 7:50, please stay with your child until the doors open.  At 7:50, staff will open doors and greet students as they enter the school. If your child arrives after 8:00, they must come in the front door.

To avoid hallway congestion, students will enter through the same doors they exit through at the end of the day:

  • Kindergarten – Parking lot doors
  • Grades 2 & 4 – North door
  • Grades 1 & 3 – Compound door
  • Grade 5 – East door

Teachers will review this information with their classes on the first day of school.  

Safety at Pick Up & Drop Off

We would like to remind families that there is no parking in the staff parking lot and parents are unable to drop off in the parking lot for safety reasons.  As drop-off and pick-up times are busy, please give yourself plenty of time to navigate safely around the school, whether you are driving, walking, or wheeling. 

School Supplies

Your child needs a water bottle, lunch/snack, backpack, and clean indoor running shoes (to be left at school) each day.  All items should be labeled with your child’s name.  Your child also needs to wear proper clothing to be outside each day.  You do not need to buy school supplies – all supplies are provided by the school through the Student Supply Fee that families pay annually. 

Communication

This year, families will receive a weekly message from teachers each Friday.  We will also send a school-wide Weekly Update each Friday from the administration team. We will not be doing individual class Instagram accounts; the only Instagram account we will have is @sibyllakiddle_cbe.  We encourage our families to follow our Instagram to see teaching and learning in action.

Please note that students with annual external clearance may have their picture (including their face), their work, and their first name posted on our Instagram.  Please see the annual authorization forms on myCBE/SchoolEngage  if you have any questions about clearance. 

Back-to-School Picnic

School Council is hosting a Back-to-School Picnic on Thursday, September 10, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  There will be food trucks, music, a photo booth, 50/50 tickets, and a scavenger hunt. The evening is designed to be a casual way to celebrate the start of school and connect with school staff and your fellow SKS families.  We hope to see you there!
