Dear Sibylla Kiddle families,
Thank you to everyone who attended our Welcome Back Picnic. Despite the cold weather and the pivot to open up the school, the evening went smoothly. We were all so happy when the sun came back out, but we also loved having people in the building.
Thank you so much to our incredible School Council who organized the entire event: the photo booth, the games, the scavenger hunt, and the food trucks. Thank you to our staff who all came out as well – some of them even brought their own families! It was a great way to start the year!
Please note that students with annual external clearance may have their picture (including their face), their work, and their first name posted on our Instagram. Please see the annual authorization forms on MyCBE/SchoolEngage if you have any questions about clearance. We encourage families to follow our school’s Instagram to see teaching and learning in action!
Whole-School Belonging Survey
Yesterday, an email was sent out asking families to complete a short (we promise!) survey about whole-school initiatives. Since it went out, we have received 69 responses – thank you!

Terry Fox Run & Toonies for Terry: Monday, September 21
Our annual Terry Fox Run will take place on September 21 from 1:00 – 2:00, weather permitting. Leading up to this day, students will have opportunities to learn about Terry Fox, his incredible journey, and why we continue to run in his honour. Students will begin the afternoon with a short assembly before heading outside for the run.
We encourage all students to bring a "Toonie for Terry" on the day of the run, to benefit the Terry Fox Foundation. Our school goal is to raise at least $750. If families would like to donate more, you can send your child with more money or donate directly to the Terry Fox Foundation using our school's fundraising link: Terry Fox Foundation – SKS School Fundraising Page

School Swag Store is Live!
School Council organizes all the Sibylla Kiddle gear for our school. The fall sale is on now and goes until September 27. You can purchase all of your swag here!
Meet the Teacher: Thursday, September 24
We welcome all families to come out to our Meet the Teacher night on Thursday, September 24, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Meet the Teacher is a student-directed evening, with students touring their family around the school and introducing families and teachers. Meet the Teacher is not a time to talk about individual student progress – those conversations will take place in November at school conferences.
Grade Five Babysitting Course: Forms to be Returned
We are excited to partner with Child Safe Canada as we host a babysitting course for interested Grade 5 students. The course will take place over six lunch hours during November 30 – December 8. When students complete the final day, they will write their babysitting test and become certified babysitters! Grade 5 parents, please be sure to return forms for those interested.

Reminder: Healthy Hunger
Thanks to three parents – Amanda, Kirstin, and Shayla – our school is once again set up for Healthy Hunger lunches and snacks. You can sign your child up and see the food schedule on the Healthy Hunger website here
