Principal’s Message
“Small changes eventually lead up to huge results”
As we go through life, it's easy to overlook the power of small changes. Sometimes, we may feel overwhelmed by the idea of making big transformations or achieving monumental goals. However, it is important to remember that small changes can lead to big learning opportunities.
Learning is not always about making massive leaps. It is about embracing the process of growth and improvement, one step at a time. Each small adjustment made in learning can have a profound impact on understanding, skills, and confidence.
This year, as a school, we have been focusing on using feedback in a variety of ways to improve our learning through small incremental steps. Feedback is more than just a commentary on performance; it is a powerful tool for learning. When students receive constructive feedback, they gain valuable insights into their strengths and areas for improvement. It serves as a roadmap for their academic progress, guiding them towards mastery and excellence.
When you visit your child’s classrooms next week, I encourage you to look for evidence of feedback and to ask your child how feedback has allowed them to improve their learning, even in small ways. Look for the ways they have grown as a learner and celebrate these no matter how big or small. As we know the journey of learning is ongoing, and there is always something new to celebrate.
Wet Schoolyard Conditions
As the weather continues to change, we often have very wet conditions on our school grounds. Currently, we have a rather sizable puddle near to the play structure. We have been communicating with students that they should not be in the puddle during the school day. Additionally, we are reminding them not to throw pylons or toys into the puddle. This allows all students to stay warm and dry at school. It also supports the office in not making several phone calls home for dry clothes. We ask that parents reinforce these expectations with their children at home.
It is a great idea to pack a spare set of clothing in your child’s backpack. Although we work hard to keep them dry, there are times that an extra set of clothing comes in very handy!
Learn and Share | School Planning
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we are asking you to share your perspectives about our school development plan, school budget and school fees.
The survey is open from March 7 to March 21. Please click here to complete the survey.
Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.
Your input is important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives.
Student-Led Conferences
On March 21, we invite families to attend our next set of conferences. Student-Led Conferences are an opportunity for you to see your child's learning through their eyes. During this conference, your child will lead you through a series of tasks to highlight their learning and share their work. Please plan to immerse yourself in your child's learning alongside them for approximately half an hour.
There will be multiple families taking part in the conferences during each time slot. Please book 1 half-hour slot per child. Classroom teachers will also be available to celebrate the learning with you and your child. If you have multiple children, you may consider overlapping times as you may not need the full time with your child, we ask that you please honor each time slot as we want to maximize the number of families.
Registration Booking opened on Thursday, March 14 at 8:00am. Please register through your MyCBE account. Please remember to choose the appropriate grade level when selecting a conference.
