Principal’s Message|
“Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning.”
~Diane Ackerman
Last night, we were excited to welcome our newest Sibylla Kiddle students as we hosted our Welcome to Kindergarten event. It was a heartening experience to witness the excitement and perhaps a touch of nervousness as these new learners prepared to embark on an educational journey with us this fall.
During their time with us, the future kindergarteners got an opportunity to experience a day in the life of kindergarten through engaging in what they do best – playing! Play is not merely an activity reserved for children; rather, it is a fundamental component of lifelong learning and growth. Play stimulates creativity and innovation. When children engage in imaginative play scenarios, they are not just having fun—they are actively flexing their creative muscles, experimenting with new ideas. Play also offers invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning and problem-solving, challenging students to think critically, make decisions, and adapt to new situations. Through play, children learn important skills such as cooperation, communication, empathy, and conflict resolution. As they engage in collaborative play activities, they develop a sense of empathy and perspective-taking, laying the groundwork for healthy interpersonal relationships and a strong sense of community.
It is a good reminder for us all to stop and make time for play! This weekend, find some new ways for your family to play together. You never know what you might learn.
2024-2025 Bus Registration|
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2024-2025 school year. Service levels and proposed fees will remain the same as the current school year. Please Apply Now.
Registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how to create one.)
Families must register by Sunday, June 16 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.
Note: Conditional ridership forms will be available after registration closes.
Traffic Safety Reminders|
We are once again reminding families of the importance of traffic safety around the school. Recently, there have been several incidents of close calls as pedestrians have jaywalked in front of our school buses. The buses do not have the same viewpoints around their vehicles to see people walking in front of them. Following traffic rules and being observant as pedestrians keeps our community safe.
Safe driving practices go together with safe pedestrian practices. We kindly ask families to take the extra time to cross the road in the designated crosswalks and to take the time to drive around the block, rather than making U-turns in unsafe and illegal locations.
We appreciate all our families who are taking the extra time to model and practice safe driving and pedestrian habits for our students.
School Council/Parent Society Notes|
A big thank you to our school council and fundraising society for providing students with a small treat to celebrate Sibylla Kiddle’s birthday.
