Principal’s Message|

“It’s better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times”

It is an exciting time at Sibylla Kiddle as many of our students have been heading off on field trips to locations outside of school. At the CBE, we call “field trips” off-site activities. Off-site activities are learning experiences that occur away from the school site and are organized and supervised by the CBE.

This week our grade 2 students explored Studio Bell; the National Music Center and our grade 5 students had the opportunity to take part in the Be Brave Hitman Game. Off-site activities enable students to participate in quality learning experiences that support educational outcomes, are relevant, flexible, accessible and are connected to the Alberta Program of Studies curriculum and learning outcomes, Guide to Education and CBE Results statements.

Learning beyond the four walls of the school provides opportunities for real-life experiences where students can get up close and personal. It allows students the change to do, and not simply learn about. Students become scientists, historians, artists and environmentalists.

Staffing Update|

We would like to welcome back Ms. Vanessa Fraser to Sibylla Kiddle School. Ms. Fraser will be returning on Friday, March 8.

Sibylla Kiddle School would like to send our sincere appreciation and thanks to Mrs. Edie Reichardt for her dedication, hard work and support during her time as Acting Assistant Principal.

Student-Led Conferences|

On March 21, we invite families to attend our next set of conferences. Student-Led Conferences are an opportunity for you to see your child's learning through their eyes. During this conference, your child will lead you through a series of tasks to highlight their learning and share their work. Please plan to immerse yourself in your child's learning alongside them for approximately one hour.

There will be multiple families taking part in the conferences during each time slot. Please book 1 one-hour slot per child. Classroom teachers will also be available to celebrate the learning with you and your child. If you have multiple children, you may consider overlapping times as you may not need the full hour with your child, we ask that you please honor each time slot as we want to maximize the number of families.

Registration Booking will open on Thursday, March 14 at 8:00am. Please register through your MyCBE account. Please remember to choose the appropriate grade level when selecting a conference. For technical Support click here.

March Spirit Week|

The week prior to Spring Break, we will be recognizing some of the holidays and celebrations that occur around that time. Students are invited to wear colours that represent the celebrations they will be learning about in class.

March 18 – Wear green (in spirit of St. Patrick's -Day)

March 19 – Spring colours (in spirit of Spring Equinox)

March 20 – Wear green, yellow, purple, or turquoise (in spirit of Ramadan)

March 21 - Wear your favourite colour (in spirit of Holi festival)

Will you be staying at Sibylla Kiddle for the 2024-2025 school year?|

If the answer is no, please email the school at sibyllakiddle@cbe.ab.ca with your child’s name, and what school they will be attending for 2024-2025 school year.  If moving out of the area, please specify where you will be moving.

If your child is a current student at Sibylla Kiddle School you do NOT need to re-register for next year. They automatically are registered for the next school year at our school.

Grade 5 students will go to Dr. George Stanley School or Dr. Martha Cohen for Grade 6, depending on which community you live in. You do not need to register for these schools, as they will automatically be rolled over to their designated school.
