“Sometimes you need to step outside, get some fresh air,
& remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.”

Last weekend, while walking with my family by the Bow River surrounded by yellow and orange fall leaves, I reflected on how we include the ritual of being in nature, immersed in fresh air to help keep us grounded. Many times, one of my family members will share, “Let’s go for a walk! I need to get some fresh air!”
Even when you can’t head out to the mountains or down to the river, the benefits of getting out and taking in some in the fresh air are well documented. It can boost your mood, increase your energy levels, give you much needed Vitamin D and improve your overall well-being.
This week is Walk to School Week, which includes International Walk to School Day on October 4. Spending a few minutes each morning, walking (or riding and wheeling) to school is an awesome way to breathe some fresh air and set up the day in a positive way. Even if the distance to school is too far to walk, parking a few blocks away and walking the last little bit allows for a few deep breaths before starting the school day.
Next week, let’s see how many students we can get walking to school. We love walking, wheeling, or riding, especially on Wednesday, October 4 - International Walk to School Day.
Sincerely,
