“Today, pause, reflect, catch your breath, make peace, find joy - in the moment.”
(Sr. Stan )
Schools are busy places of learning. On any given day students are exploring multiplication using manipulatives, producing art pieces that evoke emotions, heading out on a community walk, building with a variety of materials or engaging in a shared story. These active opportunities provide numerous ways for students to ask questions, find answers and to explore new things. Equally important, is the opportunity for students to pause and reflect on their learning, celebrate their successes, and look forward to their next steps.
Our Celebrations of Learning also provide an opportunity for student to take a moment to pause and reflect on the meaningful work that they have been engaging in. Teachers are encouraged to consider three priorities in their planning: How will you celebrate the process of learning in your classroom? How will you celebrate the product of learning in your classroom? How will you tie that all together to allow students the opportunity to meaningfully present their learning to the broader community?
Parents are welcome to attend these Celebrations of Learning when they have a child presenting in the celebration. Furthermore, as our gymnasium has space limitations, we would ask that you limit your party to 2 people. There will be an opportunity for extended family to attend our Winter and Spring Concerts.
We look forward to welcoming families to our Celebrations of Learning this year. We hope it allows to the time to pause and find joy in your child(ren)’s learning this year.
Sincerely,
Lisa Patten
